TRENTON, Mo. (May 2, 2012) – Suddenlink announced today it has launched more than 20 new high-definition (HD) TV channels in Trenton, including CMT HD, Nickelodeon HD and Discovery Channel HD. A standard definition version of CMT is also being added.
Other new HD channels are: Kansas City broadcast stations KCWE HD (CW), KSMO HD (MNT) and KCPT HD (PBS), as well as cable networks CNN HD, CNBC HD, MSNBC HD, BET HD, Fox News Channel HD, ABC Family HD, MTV HD, VH1 HD, E! HD, Comedy Central HD, Syfy HD, Cartoon Network HD, Turner Classic Movies HD, TLC HD, Animal Planet HD, Spike TV HD, Headline News HD and Hallmark Channel HD.
HDTV offers a widescreen format, similar to a movie theater, with distinctly sharper images and better sound quality than standard TV.
Introducing new HD channels is the latest part of the company’s nationwide capital investment program, calling for approximately $350 million over three years, above and beyond Suddenlink’s traditional capital spending levels. That program already has brought the benefits of all-digital picture and sound quality to Trenton, as well as other HD channels and digital video recorders (DVRs).
Late last year, Suddenlink upgraded its phone service in Trenton.
